Named as one of the most influential people in the video game industry by the Wall Street Journal in 2006, Mitch Davis is a digital media pioneer with a long record of entrepreneurial success. As founder, chairman, and CEO of Massive Inc., Davis sparked a revolution in the video game industry with the introduction of the world's first and largest in-game advertising network, which unlocked new revenue opportunities for publishers while delivering global reach and targeted, high-value impressions for advertisers. At the time of its sale to Microsoft in 2006, Massive's exclusive network served more than 80 blue chip advertisers including Coke, Toyota, and every Hollywood studio, and served ads in top-selling titles from 40 publishers including EA, Activision, THQ, Take 2, Sony Online Entertainment, Disney, and Vivendi Universal Games.
Other entrepreneurial successes include co-founding Digital Rights, subsequently acquired by Liberty One; as well as co-founding Parcelhouse, an international middleware software developer with clients including FedEx, DHL, and IKEA. During his tenure as Senior Vice President of Encyclopedia Britannica, Davis had P&L responsibility for the Britannica.com and CD Rom business units.
Chief Financial Officer
Prior to joining Emergent Payments as CFO, Joe Podulka was a CFO, VP Finance at Hearst Corp. where he led the Accounting and Finance functions for the San Francisco Chronicle and SFGate.com. He also spent 11 years at eBay/PayPal in a variety of roles in the US and abroad. In his last role at eBay/PayPal, Mr. Podulka led a team that evaluated all new business for PayPal globally. This included M&A, large commercial deals, strategic partnerships, and new products. These helped drive growth within mobile, digital goods, demand gen, consumer/merchant credit, point-of-sale, geographic expansion, and other emerging opportunities.
Mr. Podulka has built global teams and functions from the ground up, consolidated operations and refocused failing businesses, managed P&Ls, acquired companies, and provided strategic insight to both large and small organizations.
He's earned degrees from Michigan State, Michigan, and Stanford universities.
Chief Payment Officer
Ms. Zumwalt served as Senior Director of Worldwide e-Commerce Payment & Risk Strategy at Symantec Corporation. She set the strategy and direction for the global payment and risk teams to enable growth of the B2C, B2B and Enterprise commerce business units. She supported Norton's $2B online business through direct development of payment gateways, risk technology, compliance policy and fraud detection capabilities. She was formerly Head of Global Treasury responsible for Cash Flow, Foreign Exchange, Investments and Risk Management.
Ms. Zumwalt served leadership roles for the Merchant Risk Council from 2010 to 2015 as Chairperson of the Global Board of Directors, Co-Chairperson of the European Advisory Board and MRC Treasurer.
Ms. Zumwalt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Finance) from San Jose State University and previously held a CTP designation.
Chief Technology Officer
Abhishek Banerjee joins us as the Chief Technology Officer given his deep background in payments and Fraud prevention engineering along with Big Data and Analytics for leading digital organizations in Silicon Valley. He will be heading up all of engineering for Emergent for payments, fraud risk, compliance and big data analytics to enable customers reach their goals.
Prior to joining Emergent, he was the head of engineering for Payments, Fraud Risk, Big Data Analytics for Western Union Digital Ventures based in San Francisco where he worked for over 3 years. He led a global team providing cutting edge platforms for payments in over 200 countries and complex Fraud risk platforms managing billions in annual digital volume. He brings in vast experience in integrating directly with Aggregators, Payment Gateways, Banks, debit networks, schemes and local clearing switches in over 100 countries. He built brand new state of the art platforms that cater to multi-tenancy, cross border currency management, global settlement, cards, online banking, offline banking, mobile wallets, bank account and debit payout integrations to name a few. He was also instrumental in building out an industry leading fraud and risk platform that does real time risk management for digital traffic from senders in over 35 countries paying out to receivers in over 200 countries. He engineered a big data Hadoop platform that is used for fraud risk, compliance, marketing segmentation and business intelligence and real time conversion analytics. He also spearheaded the payments and risk management for WUConnect, a brand new platform where payments solutions were successfully embedded for hundreds of millions of users globally in social media platforms like WeChat and Viber. He also built out an account payout network that can reach out Mobile wallets, Bank accounts and debit cards for over billions of accounts worldwide in over 60 countries.
Before joining Western Union, Abhishek was in Symantec based out of Mountain View for 8 years heading up their payments, fraud risk, recurring billing and business intelligence engineering organization. While in Symantec's digital ecommerce organization, Abhishek successfully built cutting edge payments platforms that processed over 2B in annual revenue in over 180 countries. He also spearheaded building out risk platforms in all countries Symantec digital did business in. He masterminded an auto renewal and recurring billing engine that was a 1billion dollar business. The revenue growth of eCommerce was largely due to in-house platforms that Abhishek and his team built that moved the entire digital business previously outsourced to third parties into fully owned platforms that were agile enough to handle ever growing needs of the digital transformation.
